So I bought one not-so-great product from this collection and one that I really love! Whatta double edged sword. I shall start with the bad product and end with the good.
Shade & Smoke Shadow/Liner in Beth Mask
I was so excited for the Shade and Smoke liners too, because I love Shadesticks and Greasepaint Sticks. It unfortunately isn’t similar to either of those. I excitedly ordered this as soon as the collection was online, but my hopes and dreams were crushed the next day when I saw Temptalia’s review of these. Temptalia is my queen, my goddess, and one of the best beauty bloggers out there (if you don’t avidly read temptalia.com, start now) and this was the worst and most negative review I’ve ever seen her write. After reading that, I was expecting to hate this once it came in and figured I’d return it. I tried it out over primer and it wasn’t as bad as I thought, I think since I was expecting it to be so terrible. I used this over primer, with the light color all over my lid and the dark color along my top and bottom lashline and smoked out a bit in my outer corner. It was decent as a very very subtle smoky eye. The colors aren’t too blendable or pigmented and I don’t think you could use it in the crease because it would be so uneven and blech. The way I wore it is probably the only way to work with it, just a very subtle and quick slightly smokey look. It didn’t pull on my lid or physically “hurt” to apply like other bloggers have been saying, but beware if you have sensitive eyes because I have heard that from more than one blogger. Ramble, ramble, ramble, here’s the swatch. I should have taken a photo of the look I did to show that this CAN be worked with at least a little bit, if I wear it again soon I will post a photo. Still on the fence about whether to return this or not. It would be decent for drugstore, but as a $22 MAC product it is just not acceptable.

Prolongwear Lipcreme in Dear Diary
Obviously I was sucked in by this hot pink and had to have it. I love my Candy Yum Yum (the rare and famous shade from last year’s Quite Cute collection) but I use it very very sparingly because I don’t have a backup, but this color is actually a pretty close dupe! It’s glossier than Candy Yum Yum, and since CYY is a matte, this one is also less drying. Score. This was my first Prolongwear Lipcreme and I didn’t find it exceptionally long wearing, although it did hold up fairly well. It will last for about six hours, but it doesn’t last through meals, and when kissing someone or whatever there is some visible transfer. So the Prolongwear formula did not fare as well as I had hoped but the amazingness of the shade makes this forgiveable for me.

As you can see, Candy Yum Yum is more matte and slightly more neon bright, but it’s close!
How much: $17
Where to buy: maccosmetics.com, MAC Stores, Department stores that have MAC counters and their websites. Dear Diary is currently sold out on the MAC site but keep checking back because sometimes they will restock popular limited edition things, I found this at a local MAC store so check those and your department stores!
